Lyrics

Chapter 1.  Hard Luck Town.

Looking out my window there’s a world that’s often missed
There’s teenage alcoholics and old men who have never been kissed
Average Joes pass on by like they don’t exist,
 In Hard Luck Town
Oh when you’re down in Hard Luck Town.

Three fifteen a woman screams it echoes through the night
Ah Christ is someone being killed or is it another lovers fight
Frightened people lock their doors and pull their duvets tight
In Hard Luck Town
Oh when you’re down in Hard Luck Town.

Beware the politician man and those who work for banks
They’ll empty out your pockets and expect you to say thanks
And when you’ve nothing left to give you’ll join the homeless ranks
In Hard Luck Town
Oh when you're down in Hard Luck Town

So if you're out of money and you'r running out of luck
Your friends have up and left you and your life has turned to mud
You've read the signs you're in a bind and I hope you enjoy your time
In Hard Luck Time
Oh when you're down in Hard Luck Town

Chapter 2.  Space to Roam
I walk along these streets of home
Faces pass me by but I feel so alone
My pain is gone just got to press on
Gotta find me some space to roam.

Now that you’ve gone I can see the sky
The clouds have gone with your hollow lies
See verdant fields of green
Clear crystal mountain streams
I`ll rest awhile and bide my time.

My spirit travels with the tide
Across the open seas into a world so wide
I voyage to rest my soul
A steady ship I control
And the weather ahead it looks just fine.

I`ll find new shores to walk upon
With my head held high towards the breaking dawn
New paths untried
Let my heart be my guide
Each step I take I`ll be reborn.

I walk along these streets of my home
Faces pass me by but I no longer need to roam
My tears are long gone
Now I’m feeling strong
Found the space I need and I have grown

Chapter 3.  The Path to You.
I’ve been in this place so long; I’ve been on my own
I’m feeling weak were once was strong; I’m tired to the bone
I thought so long of breaking free; to head to pastures new
But through the mist I cannot see the path that leads to you.

So in this cold dark place I dwell; I cling on to hope
I struggle through this living hell; through the darkness I grope
I’m not quite sure what drives me on; it’s something I must do
I pray to see the breaking dawn and the path that leads to you.

I know one day the sun will rise; to shine upon my face
And the veil will fall from my eyes: I`ll be free to leave this place
Until then I must endure; the darkness and cold too
I`ll find clear what was obscure and the path that leads to you.

Like a sea in perpetual motion searching for a shore
Like a man in need of answers going door to door
With my heart at the fore.

So if you see me on the road; hold out your hand
For I bear a heavy load; I’m a stranger in this land
It’s not easy to walk alone; but I know I`ll see it through
For all along I’ve always known I`d find the path that leads to you.

 Chapter 4. Starting Over.
It’s time to leave this home my love, we`ll put this kids stuff in the box
Our tiny place of hopes and dreams, stripped bare torn at the seams.

I know home is more than brick and wall
And that brings me some comfort through it all
And I`ll take me you and little boy blue
And we will start over again

Looking back five years or so no sign then how things would go
The sudden shock of boom and bust an endless trail of blood and dust.

I know home is more than brick and wall………………………….

One more look as the van turns right to where we started our old new life
And I feel your hand in mine we are strong as we leave it all behind.

I know home is more than brick and wall………………………….

Chapter 5. Stone in My Shoe.
You can take all your things when you’re leaving
And I hope you take the bad memories too
I’m so sick and tired of your deceiving
You’ve been nothing but a stone in my shoe.

Like your dog I always came when you called me
Ring your bell and I`d salivate for you
Now you’re gone things will only be better
You`ve been nothing but a stone in my shoe.

To have love and lost is always better that’s what you tell me
Well I`ve lost so much I really think I’ve paid my due
It’s a price I’m willing to pay just to be free
You`ve been nothing but a stone in my shoe.

I’m glad to see you walk away I’m so happy to see leave
I don’t want to be a part of your world of make believe

So fare thee well and goodbye for ever
I`d wish you well but just don’t think I should
And when you’re gone I really hope that it’s for ever
You`ve been nothing but a stone in my shoe.
Life is easy with no stones in your shoe.

Chapter 6.  Barfly
I`ve been standing at the bar all night trying to get a drink
Age really isn’t on my side I’m not quite as you as you think
My jeans are too tight my hairs turning grey I’m just a little over the hill
But please please please give me

Just a little bit more fill it up to the top
I`ll be fine so just keep it flowing
Can I let myself go if I do will she know
Fill it up once again keep it coming my friend
I`ll be fine so just keep it flowing
Just two more drinks and we`ll be fine.

You`ve been standing at the bar all night trying to slow down time
You`re looking hotter as the hours roll by but maybe that’s just the red wine
I give you a smile then you wink back I think it’s time that I make a move
So please please please give me

Just a little bit more fill it up to the top……………………………………..

We`ve been standing at the bar all night and it`s time we headed home
The bar is empty and they`re clearing up but we don’t want to go home alone
The wine was too strong the shots were just wrong but I know a place we can get more
So please please please give me

Just a little bit more fill it up to the top……………………………………..

Chapter 7.  Hydebank Hotel
Here I stand in Rosie`s court too much booze and too much sport
Has left me all out of sorts
Fight broke out I can’t recall I hit you then I hit the wall
I`m a girl who likes to brawl.

Rosie you can send me down
I need some time out of this town
Send me back to cold turkey hell
See my old friends at Hydebank Hotel

I`ll say goodbye to the Special brew vodka coke and whiskey too
But most of all I`ll say goodbye to you
But I`ll be back after a good old rest I won’t be long don’t be depressed
Rosie she knows me best.

Rosie you can send me down………………………………………………….

Well the company will be nice
Three square meals no Diamond White
No man to beat me black and blue
Just the DT`s to get through

Rosie you can send me down………………………………………………….

Chapter 8. My Heart Goes Boom
Well I have my fill of holding hands and being your best friend
Your eyes tell me you’re in need of more and these needs I’m willing to attend
As you move across the floor shaking your dark hair
You turn to gaze and our eyes do lock and my blood begins to stir.

My heart goes boom when you walk in the room
I can feel your flame want to play the game
Need to feel your thighs want to hear your cries
Love to hear you scream when you call me name

So there you are moving next to me and I begin to shift in my seat
As your body gets closer to mine I begin to feel the heat.

My heart goes boom when you walk in the room……………………………………….

Well if you need me move in close and we can turn off the lights
Our hands and tongues can explore in the dark will be the start of a long hot night.

My heart goes boom when you walk in the room……………………………………….

Chapter 9.  She Said

Where are you going to my love where are you bound
Don’t turn your face away don’t make me bend it around
Because I love you I should know where you go
And on a dark night you shouldn’t wander alone

She said I’m going to see my sister I have to call around
You must know how I’ve missed her and I need to see her know.

You cannot go there my love this you know
She is poisoned ivy who twists as she grows
See you defy me and weep as you run
Always I’ll catch you and show you how it’s done

She said I’m leaving you forever you’ll kill me dead some day
I may not be that clever I know its going that way

See now I’ve caught you my love why resist
I know you love me to so show me or Ill insist
Is that a blade I see gripped tightly to your side
Don’t be a fool my love and she swings with all her might

She said you won’t catch me this time or tell me what to do
I wont suffer your crimes your love has been cruel

Love wont you help me Im bleeding fro the heart
I can only make out black shadows in the dark
How could you do this to one who loved you so
My breaths don’t come now and I will die alone

She said I’m going to see my sister tell what I did with my own hands
Beg the Lord for forgiveness and pray he understands

Chapter 10. Nine Lives
Another night another night at home holding tight to my mobile phone
Will I hear will hear your voice or have you gone and made a different choice

You’ve got nine lives baby but they’re slowly slipping away
And its not getting easier to see things aren’t going my way
Ill try another day

Another dawn another dawn alone will I ever learn I should have known
Once again once again the fool should’ve played by my own rules

You’ve got nine lives baby but they’re slowly slipping away………………..

One by one these lives have gone and its getting harder for me to hold on
You said that you care for me and you aren’t going to play these games
Your pants are in flames

Another day another day on the road where my dreams all ebb and flow
Another try another try at life one that’s free of all stress and strife

You’ve got nine lives baby but they’re slowly slipping away…………………..

 Chapter 11.  One Reason
Don’t give me those eyes smoky and blue and full of desire
Don’t give me that smile promising me a night full of fire
There’s a hundred reasons why I should walk away
Just one reason to stay.

Don’t give me you heart beating so hard the heat can’t be denied
Don’t give me your everything promising me you will keep me satisfied
There’s a hundred reasons why I should walk away
Just one reason to stay.

The smell of skin and the taste of your lips in the heat and warmth of the night
Losing my way as I fall down and pray don’t let me give up this fight.

There’s a hundred reasons why I should walk away
Just one reason to stay.

Just walk away don’t ask me to stay.
